On Saturday 2 December, St Albans for Europe campaigners took to the streets to press for Parliament to have a meaningful vote on the final Brexit deal, which leaves open the option to remain in the EU. The group held a street stall on St Albans market, where they explained that Article 50 is revocable; gathered support for Parliament to have a meaningful vote on the final Brexit deal and recruited new members. Local residents have also written to MPs Anne Main and Bim Afolami about the issue.
Parliament is debating the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill. The European Movement supports Amendment 7 put forward by Dominic Grieve QC MP which requires that Parliament is given a meaningful vote on the final Brexit deal. As Parliament is due to debate this amendment this coming week, pro-European groups up and down the country will be holding similar events this weekend. St Albans for Europe volunteers will be supporting neighbouring group, East Herts for Europe, who will be campaigning in Bishop Stortford on Sunday 10 November.
If you would like to add your support to the campaign for a meaningful vote, please write to your MP TODAY asking them to support Amendment 7- don’t delay as it is due to be debated in Parliament next week.
